Manuela Infante
Vampyr
Santiago de Chile
What does a vampire do in a world that never stands still? In «Vampyr», Chilean director, writer and musician Manuela Infante transforms the vampire myth into a powerful metaphor for change and resistance. With sharp humour, philosophical depth and vibrant physicality, two performers explore energy, progress and the question: what does it mean to be human – or no longer fully human? A poetically absurd evening of theatre that fuses wonder and reflection.

How does a vampire behave in a power- and blood-sucking world where no one can find rest and recovery is denied? In a world where even the expansion of renewable energy serves only to conceal and maintain exploitative and colonial structures? Full of wit and darkness, Chilean director Manuela Infante imagines a South American vampire mythology and continues her longterm explorationof non-anthropocentric, decolonial forms of theatre through «Vampyr».
Haunted by the voices of confused bats threatened by wind turbines and exhausted nightshift workers sharing stories of exploitation, two wilful beings move across the stage. The performers’ unique physicality creates characters that shift between the human, the animal, the awake, and the dead – seeking a narrative where those boundaries shimmer and blur.
A humorous yet critical exploration of the phenomenon of greenwashing and the colonial logic behind the unregulated construction of wind farms in Chile.
