STREET PERFORMANCES ON THE FESTIVAL SITE

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Zürcher Theater Spektakel is one of the best-known international festivals for contemporary forms of performing arts. Defined outdoor spaces are provided for performances by street artists. Interested artists can apply to perform one show daily in one of the 6-day blocks using this form. The closing date for applications is April 16, 2026 and the number of artists and groups that can perform is limited. 

Due to the high volume of applications, we regret that we cannot send rejection notices and will contact only successful applicants. We kindly ask you to refrain from repeated inquiries. 

PERFORMING CONDITIONS ON THE FESTIVAL SITE

Performance duration Maximum 30 minutes, including set-up and dismantling time as well as time for taking the collection
Fee Hat collection by the performers
Suitable genres Various forms of street art, such as circus, acrobatics, street dance, clowning, and puppet theater.
Technology Portable spotlights are available for evening performances. Groups can bring their own mobile speakers and play music at a predefined volume. Amplified or loud instruments (such as brass and percussion instruments) and microphones are not permitted.
Application Street artists who would like to perform in one of the 6-day blocks on the festival site can apply using this form by April 16, 2026 at the latest. The number of artists who can perform is limited. Only artists providing valid video links in the application will be considered.
Only invited groups will have a performance guarantee!
Performance days Artists who would like to perform on the festival site can apply for one or more performance blocks:

• Performance block 1: 13^th to 18^th August
• Performance block 2: 19^th to 24^th August
• Performance block 3: 25^th to 30^th August

Please select all the performance blocks on the application form on which you are available, the allocation is made by the festival (only one performance block per artist/group). Artists or groups are being assigned one performance slot per day.
Confirmation of performances Confirmations will be sent via email by the end of June 2026 at the latest and are only possible for one performance block and one performance slot per day per artist or group.
Accommodation Artists will be provided with a bed in shared dormitory room in the nearby youth hostel or a space for their own mobile home for the duration of the confirmed performances. Camping is not possible on the entire festival site.
Travel costs Zürcher Theater Spektakel covers a CHF 200 lump-sum expense allowance in cash upon arrival.
Meals Artists who are invited to perform in the street art section will receive vouchers for one meal a day on the festival site. Additionally, there will be breakfast provided for those who stay in the youth hostel.
Liability The Zürcher Theater Spektakel accepts no liability whatsoever for any harmful effects of the artists’ performances. Discriminatory behavior and language will not be tolerated. Artists who do not adhere to the prescribed rules and code of conduct may be expelled and asked to leave the festival site.
