No return or exchange of tickets except for cancelled events.

Collective Listenings and other special formats

Due to the current pandemic situation, the programme consists of a series of special formats. There are hardly any performances with a seated audience watching a staged show. Instead, there are, for example, Collective Listenings: up to four people can sit on a picnic blanket around a radio on the Landiwiese and listen to stories and sounds of great artists from around the world. Please arrive in good time and respect the special instructions and recommendations for the individual events.

Events without indication of venue

Various events in the public space (William Forsythe’s mobile installation, DeZentral programme, late night show of Moumouni & Buser) are published without specifying the exact venue. Specific venues will either be communicated upon registration or on the day of the event itself in the Festival News on Demand. This is one of the measures taken in order to avoid large crowds of people.

Protective measures

The festival will comply with the protective measures against the COVID-19 pandemic prescribed by the federal government. Events where the distance rule cannot be met are specifically denoted. Please play your part and respect the instructions and show up on time for the events. More information here.

Inclusion

Naturally, we are committed to enabling people with disabilities to attend the performances without barriers and obstacles. Thanks to the support of the foundation “Denk an mich” we have again managed to realise a series of inclusive measures. More information here.

No gastronomic offers on the Landiwiese

The restaurants and bars on the Landiwiese have been a crucial element in the festival and have significantly contributed to the specific atmosphere. The popular gastronomic services L’Andis, Cantina, Lido, Mama Put, Röhrlibar, Tao Yuan, Zentralbar and Le cochon vert will not be present this year because current conditions do not allow for catering to the extent that previous festivals have done. However, at some events, there will be a reduced gastronomic service on offer.

Landiwiese without street art

In this year’s special edition of the Theater Spektakel there will be no street art, bazars or roundabout on the Landiwiese. Instead, you will be able to admire outstanding installations and other unique events. See also «Collective Listenings and special formats».

No shuttle boat

The popular shuttle boat (Bürkliplatz-Landiwiese-Tiefenbrunnen) will not operate this year. If you still feel like a boat ride, we recommend that you take the scheduled boat to Wollishofen and listen to the audio-walk by Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, especially created for this course.

No nominations for ZKB Prizes

One of the long-standing commitments of the Zürcher Kantonalbank as main partner of the Zürcher Theater Spektakel has been the funding of the ZKB Patronage and the ZKB Acknowledgement Prizes, which have awarded young artists and companies worthy of support for over twenty years. In 2016, the Zürcher Kantonalbank launched the ZKB Audience Prize. Since then, not only a jury of experts but also the audience have been able to cast their vote on productions nominated for the ZKB Patronage and ZKB Acknowledgment Prizes. Due to the corona pandemic and the ensuing conditions for this year’s Theater Spektakel, the criteria for nomination and awarding prizes cannot be applied to productions in this year’s programme. Accordingly, Zürcher Kantonalbank and the festival direction have decided not to award any ZKB Prizes this year.

Further information on the ZKB Prizes you find here.
