As funding for international cooperation continues to shrink worldwide, cultural exchange is increasingly at risk. For years, artlink has been committed to cultural diversity in Switzerland and beyond. Among other initiatives, the organization facilitates artistic collaborations between Switzerland and partners from Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. With Virginia Kargachin from artlink, we discuss the role and responsibility of cultural funding in an increasingly fragmented world — and what is lost when such spaces for exchange disappear.
