Martha Luisa Hernández Cadenas

In «No soy unicornio», the queer­-feminist artist and performer Martha Luisa Hernández Cadenas, aka Martica Minipunto, walks the streets of Havanna as a unicorn. Her body – disguised as a gender­less fabulous creature – becomes a scene for assaults and manoeuvres of poetic resistance, balanced between power and freedom in a society characterised by colonisation, binary thinking, fear and cen­sorship. At the Theater Spektakel, Hernández Cadenas presents her long-­term project as an essayistic solo performance, in which she skilfully combines language, intertextual references and moving images. (as)
